Jack Britt is 2-8 against Purnell Swett since May of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Buccaneers will look to defend their home field against the Rams at 7:00 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Jack Britt made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Lumberton, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Buccaneers' pitchers stepped up to hand the Pirates an 8-0 shutout on Tuesday. The Buccaneers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Cameron Byers and Alex Jones made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Byers tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Jones didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over 5.1 innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in February. At the plate, Byers scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4, while Jones went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Ryder Blackburn was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Braedon Kaye, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last game, Purnell Swett made sure to put some runs up on the board against Douglas Byrd on Wednesday. The Rams put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 21-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Rams in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won nine in a row.
Hudson Locklear tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 14 over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Chandon Sanderson, who scored four runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. He has become a key player for Purnell Swett: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 4-7 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Cameron Scott, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.
Purnell Swett kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 22 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.5 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 9.8.
Purnell Swett's victory bumped their record up to 7-8. As for Jack Britt, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-5.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Jack Britt has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Purnell Swett struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Jack Britt might still be hurting after the 10-1 defeat they got from Purnell Swett in their previous meeting back in March. Will the Buccaneers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
