Baseball Recap: East Lake Picks Up Second Consecutive Victory

East Lake won the last time they faced Clearwater and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Eagles' pitcher stepped up to hand the Tornadoes a 6-0 shutout. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by six runs or more this season.

The result came thanks to Camden Boehm's shutout, as he gave up just two hits and racked up ten Ks.

On the hitting side, East Lake got a big performance out of Andrew Sheffield, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-3. Those three stolen bases gave Sheffield a new career-high. Dylan Taft also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

The victory made it two in a row for East Lake and bumps their season record up to 14-6. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Clearwater, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. East Lake will welcome Calvary Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Eagles are on a three-game streak of home wins, the Warriors an eight-game streak of away wins, meaning someone's leaving a streak behind. As for Clearwater, they will host Countryside at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Cougars' pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so the Tornadoes' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
