The Basha Bears will challenge the Mountain View Toros at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
Basha is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Arizona's top teams: Hamilton, who was ranked fifth at the time (Basha was ranked 22nd). The Bears came up short against the Huskies on Thursday, falling 3-0.
The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 25-23, 25-13.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Chelsea Mayhead, who had four digs and two aces.
Mountain View hadn't beaten Mesa on the road since September 21, 2023 but that history sure didn't bother them on Wednesday. The Toros were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Jackrabbits. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Toros have posted against the Jackrabbits since October 17, 2023.
While Mountain View won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the second set they played. The final score came out to 25-16, 25-23, 25-16.
Basha's loss dropped their record down to 19-14. As for Mountain View, their win bumped their record up to 16-12.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Tuesday's match: Basha has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 6.1 aces per game. However, it's not like Mountain View struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.5 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
