Basketball Recap: Mexia Takes a Loss

Mexia lost against Fairfield back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Mexia Black Cats took a 43-31 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Fairfield Eagles. While losing is never fun, the Black Cats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 455th, while the Eagles are ranked 111th).

Mexia's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 9-6. As for Fairfield, their win bumped their record up to 15-4.

Mexia will be playing at home against Teague at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Fairfield, they will head out to face off against Elkhart at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Elkhart has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
