Baseball Recap: Tularosa Beats Socorro for Their Fifth Straight Victory

Tularosa made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Socorro, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Wildcats blew past the Warriors 11-5 on Wednesday. Winning may never get old, but the Wildcats sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.

Daniel Yuzos made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.

Yuzos wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jacoby Apachito, who scored three runs and stole five bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Those five stolen bases gave Apachito a new career-high. Deon Bigas also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Tularosa's record now sits at 7-5. As for Socorro, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 6-7.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Tularosa beat the Warriors by a score of 5-4 on Saturday.
