Softball Recap: Community School of Naples Drops Highest Score of Season Against Golden Gate

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Community School of Naples). Everything went their way against the Golden Gate Titans on Tuesday as they made off with a 26-10 victory. The high-scoring effort was just what the Seahawks needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.

Chloe Zimm made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up five earned (and five unearned) runs off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with seven stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those seven stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Community School of Naples got a massive performance out of Luci Bullock, who went 5-for-6 with seven stolen bases, four runs, and two RBI. Those seven stolen bases gave Bullock a new career-high. Lily Campbell was another key player, getting on base in five of her six plate appearances with one home run, three stolen bases, and three runs.

Community School of Naples always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .771. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Golden Gate only posted an OBP of .459.

Community School of Naples' win bumped their record up to 5-7. As for Golden Gate, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-11.

Community School of Naples will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Seacrest Country Day at 4:00 p.m. on the 22nd. The Seahawks' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Stingrays have averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season. As for Golden Gate, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 27-16 victory against Island Coast on the 9th.
