Volleyball Game Preview: Clairemont Chieftains vs. Cathedral Catholic Dons

The Clairemont Chieftains will challenge the Cathedral Catholic Dons at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Clairemont got their first taste of in-conference action on Wednesday and they started things off strong. They had just enough and edged out Scripps Ranch 3-2.

Clairemont was staring down a 2-1 deficit headed into the fourth set, but they rallied to take the next two for the win. The final score came out to 25-19, 18-25, 19-25, 25-21, 15-10.

Clairemont got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Makoa Miner out in front who had 15 kills and four blocks. Miner is crushing it when it comes to kills: he's had at least five every time he's taken the court this season. Gabe Tocco was another key player, getting ten kills and seven blocks.

Meanwhile, Cathedral Catholic waltzed into their contest on Wednesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. Everything went their way against the Nighthawks as they made off with a 3-0 victory.

The win didn't come easy: Del Norte scored at least 21 points in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 25-22, 26-24.

Cathedral Catholic pushed their record up to 11-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Clairemont, their win bumped their record up to 17-6.
