Soccer Game Preview: Central vs. Brawley

The Central Spartans will head out on the road to face off against the Brawley Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Central comes in on three and Brawley on four.

Brawley better have a healthy lead at halftime, because if last week is any indication, that's when Central really get things going. Central put the hurt on Holtville with a sharp 4-0 win on Friday. Considering the Spartans have won ten games by more than two goals this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

They hit Holtville with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Angel Sandoval, Joseph Rosas, Santi German, and Mizael Rocha.

Meanwhile, Brawley won against Southwest EC on Thursday with three goals and they decided to stick to that goal total again on Friday. Brawley sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over Yuma Catholic. The win was all the more spectacular given the Wildcats' disadvantage in MaxPreps' soccer rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 451st in California, while the Shamrocks are ranked 37th in Arizona).

Central pushed their record up to 15-1-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those three contests. As for Brawley, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5-2 record this season.
