Softball Recap: Cerro Gordo/Bement Broncos vs. Decatur Eisenhower Panthers

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond, Cerro Gordo/Bement was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Decatur Eisenhower Panthers with a sharp 15-2 win. The high-scoring effort was just what Cerro Gordo/Bement needed considering they were shutout in their previous matchup.

Cerro Gordo/Bement got a great performance from Vannah Throneburg as she struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. On the hitting side, Haylei Simpson was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two triples, three runs, and three RBI. Jillian Durbin was another key contributor, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-5.

On Decatur Eisenhower's side, they saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Davae Mann, who went 2-for-3 with a stolen base and an RBI.
