Baseball Recap: Childress Takes a Loss

Childress lost against Bushland back in March, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Bobcats fell just short of the Falcons by a score of 6-5. That's two games in a row now that the Bobcats have lost by just one run.

Brody Hightower made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while going 3-for-4. Luke Rodriguez was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.

Childress dropped their record down to 10-10-1 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road. The slump could be explained by some tough opposition over that stretch, namely Bushland, Dalhart, and Tulia. As for the Falcons, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-10 record this season.

Childress will square off against Tulia at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Bobcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Hornets have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season. As for Bushland, they will challenge Dalhart at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The last five games the Wolves have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
