Baseball Recap: Ponderosa Takes a Loss

If Ponderosa was riding high fresh off their 12-2 takedown of Inderkum on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bruins fell just short of the Lodi Flames by a score of 5-4 on Tuesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bruins of the 10-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2022.

Ponderosa got a good showing from Jack Kopp, who pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Kopp also tossed a walk, which is notable because the Bruins are 2-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 5-15 otherwise.

At the plate, Ponderosa saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jake Uber, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double. CJ Perin was another, going 2-for-3 with one run.

Ponderosa has been struggling recently as they've lost 12 of their last 13 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-16 record this season. As for Lodi, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 16-4.

Ponderosa didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 5-4 win against Laguna Creek on the 16th. As for Lodi, they have also already played their next game, a 9-8 loss against Chico on the 16th.
