With MaxPreps President Andy Beal there to cheer him on, Canoga Park wide receiver Randy Uzoma posted one of the top receiving yardage totals of the week in his team's 41-0 win over Kennedy.
Beal, a Canoga Park graduate,
was on hand to serve as Grand Marshal of the homecoming parade. He also once served as a yell leader during the football season and was a top athlete for the basketball team during the 1970s.
Uzoma, meanwhile, doubled his previous yardage total for the entire season with his 253-yard effort. The 6-foot-1 senior had just 14 catches for 198 yards entering Friday's contest, but he made six catches with a long of 82 yards to put his season totals at 20 catches for 451 yards.
Dorial Green-Beckham of Hillcrest (Springfield, Mo.) made his regular appearance among the receiving leaders as he caught 11 passes for 303 yards in a win over Republic. In doing so,
Green-Beckham became the national all-time leader in career yardage.
He leads the nation with 1,986 yards and he has a shot at the national record of 2,427 yards, set by Stephenville's Cody Cardwell in 1998, if Hillcrest advances through the playoffs.
