Baseball Recap: Sewickley Academy Starts Season with Loss at Home

Sewickley Academy unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They came up short against the Bishop Canevin Crusaders on Monday, falling 15-3. If Sewickley Academy was looking for revenge after losing 17-2 to Bishop Canevin when the teams met back in March of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Alex Sanfilippo was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.

Bishop Canevin's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Bishop Canevin beat Sewickley Academy by a score of 17-2 on Tuesday.
