Basketball Recap: Lassen Takes a Loss

Lassen and West Valley squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Lassen had to settle for second. They received a blow as they fell 59-40 to the West Valley Eagles. The Grizzlies have struggled against the Eagles recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

When it comes to explaining why Lassen lost, don't look at Joey Harrison. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double with ten points and 14 boards. That's the most rebounds Harrison has posted since back in February of 2024. Zach Hart was another key player, putting up four points.

Even though they lost, Lassen smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as West Valley only eight offensive boards.

Jordan Heacock was his usual excellent self, going 8-for-20 on his way to 28 points for West Valley. The contest was Heacock's eighth in a row with at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Blaze Collins, who had seven points and 12 boards.

Lassen's loss dropped their record down to 8-21. As for West Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-10 record this season.

Lassen does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for West Valley, they will take on Gridley at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Gridley comes in on ten and West Valley on seven.
