Preview: Victory Christian Academy Patriots vs. Rockwell Christian School Chargers

The Victory Christian Academy Patriots will look to defend their home court on Monday against the Rockwell Christian School Chargers at 6:30 p.m. Victory Christian Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matches -- so hopefully Rockwell Christian School likes a good challenge.

Victory Christian Academy's and Mountain View Christian Academy's contest on Friday was close at halftime, but Victory Christian Academy turned on the heat in the second half with 49 points. Victory Christian Academy blew past Mountain View Christian Academy 72-46.

Victory Christian Academy can attribute much of their success to Gabriel Thompson, who scored 20 points, and Lloyd Hampton, who scored 20 points. That makes it five consecutive games in which Thompson has scored at least 25% of Victory Christian Academy's points. Another player making a difference was Josiah Copeland, who scored 10 points.

Meanwhile, Rockwell Christian School pushed their score all the way to 70 on Monday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They suffered a tough 94-70 loss at the hands of North Hills Christian. While losing is never fun, Rockwell Christian School can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 291st, while North Hills Christian is ranked 96th).

Victory Christian Academy's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-1. As for Rockwell Christian School, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season.
