Softball Recap: Freedom Comes Up Short

Freedom extended their losing streak to five on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 2-11 in the process. They came up short against the Strawberry Crest Chargers, falling 18-0. The Patriots were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Chargers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2019.

As for Strawberry Crest, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-9. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by six runs or more this season.

For Strawberry Crest's part, Destiny Bryant made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, Bryant posted four strikeouts, the most she's had since back in February. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Lola Coole was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases, four runs, and one double. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ava Cater, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.

Freedom wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 16-4 loss against East Bay on the 10th. As for Strawberry Crest, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, an 11-8 win against Gaither on the 9th.
