Makenna Schleman leads North Newton to victory over Covington

Recap: North Newton Spartans vs. Covington Trojans
The North Newton Spartans can finally bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Saturday. They secured a 42-37 W over Covington. The victory was just what North Newton needed coming off of a 59-22 loss in their prior contest.
Makenna Schleman continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 22 points and 11 rebounds. The matchup was her third in a row with at least ten points. Cheyann Cahill was another key contributor, scoring six points along with three steals.
North Newton's victory bumped their record up to 4-10. As for Covington, they now have a losing record at 6-7.
North Newton will take on Winamac in a holiday battle at TBD on Monday at. Winamac presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than North Newton in Indiana (Winamac is ranked 150th, while North Newton is ranked 360th). As for Covington, they will head out on the road to face off against Terre Haute South Vigo at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Terre Haute South Vigo is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
