Softball Game Preview: Enterprise Bulldogs vs. Newton County Cougars

The Enterprise Bulldogs will square off against the Newton County Cougars at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Enterprise's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so Newton County's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Enterprise's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Saturday's struggle, when Raleigh hitters got past them. Enterprise lost 10-4 to Raleigh on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Bulldogs have suffered since March 16, 2024.

Saylee Perry led a balanced group of hitters, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Marlee Brannan, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, Newton County didn't have quite enough to beat Brandon on Saturday and fell 6-4. The Cougars haven't had much luck with the Bulldogs recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

This is the second loss in a row for Enterprise and nudges their season record down to 4-4. As for Newton County, their loss dropped their record down to 4-3.

Enterprise came up short against Newton County in their previous matchup back in February, falling 12-9. Can Enterprise avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
