Basketball Recap: North Forest Comes Up Short

North Forest was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 47-30 bruising from the Yates Lions. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 68-15 back in November of 2024.

Yates' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Karneshia Smith led the charge by dropping a double-double on 19 points and 11 steals. Smith is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Taniyah Cooper was another key player, putting up 11 points along with seven rebounds and six steals.

North Forest's defeat dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Yates, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season.

North Forest will challenge Northside at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Yates, they will host Worthing at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Worthing will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something Yates surely won't give up without a fight.
