Basketball Game Preview: Washington Tigers vs. St. Vincent-St. Mary Fighting Irish

The Washington Tigers will head out on the road to take on the St. Vincent-St. Mary Fighting Irish at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Washington sitting on five straight wins and St. Vincent-St. Mary on ten.

Last Monday, Washington made easy work of Stow-Munroe Falls and carried off a 65-45 victory. The Tigers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 games by 20 points or more this season.

Washington's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Delaney Pierce, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 boards. The matchup was Pierce's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Hannah Nicola, who went 5 for 6 en route to 13 points and five steals.

Meanwhile, St. Vincent-St. Mary had just enough and edged Big Walnut out 57-54 on Sunday.

Washington's record now sits at 15-2. As for St. Vincent-St. Mary, their record is now 15-1.

Washington was dealt a bruising 65-23 defeat at the hands of St. Vincent-St. Mary in their previous meeting back in January of 2022. Can Washington avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
