            Basketball Recap: Zane Trace Pioneers vs. Unioto Shermans        
        
		
        
        
            Zane Trace was not able to break out of their rough patch  on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight  defeat. They were beaten by the Unioto Shermans 76-15. While losing is never fun, the Pioneers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage  in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings  (they are ranked 362nd, while the Shermans are ranked 30th).
 Several Pioneers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was   Emma Houston, who  posted seven points.
 Leading Unioto to victory were  Milee Smith and  Mya Hamilton.  Smith  went 11 of 13 on her way to 24  points in addition to six  boards and five  assists, while  Hamilton  went 7 for 14 on her way to 18  points and three  steals. That's the most  assists  Smith has posted since back in January. The team also got some help courtesy of  Keyairah Beard, who  went 5 of 10 on her way to 12 points.
Zane Trace's loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Unioto, they are  on a roll lately: they've  won five of their last six matches,  which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record  this season.
 Both  teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Zane Trace will head out to  take on Adena  at 7:00  p.m.  on Saturday. As for Unioto, they will venture away from home to  square off against Southeastern  at 7:00  p.m.  on Saturday. Unioto is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 69.9  points per game  this season.
