Softball Recap: Golden Valley Grizzlies vs. Saugus Centurions
Golden Valley had lost five straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 4-16 to make it six. They lost 14-1 to the Saugus Centurions. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Centurions this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-1 back in March.
Rohan Elhamamsy made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run.
As for Saugus, they are on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 17 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games.
On Saugus' side, Kona Ramsbottom looked comfortable as she tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Ramsbottom has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one walk in 15 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Saugus got a big performance out of Sabrina Dockery, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run. Those three hits gave Dockery a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Malia Horvat, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.
Golden Valley wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 10-0 loss against Valencia on the 1st. As for Saugus, they will host Castaic at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
