Softball Recap: Plymouth Christian Academy Has No Trouble Against Boyne City

Plymouth Christian Academy won the last time they faced Boyne City and things went their way on Friday too. The Eagles put the hurt on the Ramblers with a sharp 9-2 win. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 matches by six runs or more this season.

Clara Groen made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, Plymouth Christian Academy got a big performance out of Mariah Wright, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Kallie Brodhagen was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

The victory made it two in a row for Plymouth Christian Academy and bumps their season record up to 16-7. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Boyne City, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season.

Coincidentally, Plymouth Christian Academy and Boyne City will both be playing Marquette the next time they take the field. The Eagles will head out to face the Sentinels at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, while the Ramblers will play them later in the day, at 11:00 a.m.
