Basketball Recap: Boyd County Takes a Loss

Boyd County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 18th straight defeat dating back to last season. They were outmatched by the St. Mary's Cardinals and fell 61-20. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 267th, while the Cardinals are ranked 52nd).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead St. Mary's to victory, but perhaps none more so than Adyson Peterson, who went 8 for 19 en route to 23 points and three steals. Gracie Williamson was another key player, going 6 of 7 on her way to 16 points in addition to five rebounds and four steals.

Boyd County's loss dropped their record down to 0-17. As for St. Mary's, the victory (which was their 12th in a row) raised their record to 18-1.

While Boyd County had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:15 p.m. on February 11th.
