Basketball Recap: O'connor Now 9-1 over Last Ten Games

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Brennan, O'Connor was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They took down the Marshall Rams 52-34. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 76-63 back in December of 2024.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead O'Connor to victory, but perhaps none more so than Evan Herrera, who posted 11 points along with seven boards and six assists. That's the most rebounds Herrera has posted since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Hagen Hurst, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 boards.

O'Connor smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Marshall only pulled down six offensive rebounds.

Jai Lopez and Jason Vidaurri certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Lopez went 6 for 15 en route to 16 points and eight rebounds, while Vidaurri dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 boards. Vidaurri is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played.

O'Connor has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-11 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.5 points per game. As for Marshall, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 11-21.

Coincidentally, O'Connor and Marshall will both be playing Holmes the next time they take the court. O'Connor will host Holmes at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while Marshall will head out to face them at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
