McFarland hadn't done well against Manitowoc Lincoln recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Spartans sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over the Ships. This was a revenge game for the Spartans: when they faced off against the Ships back in August, they had to take a 2-1 loss.

Kayla Landerud paced McFarland's offense, picking up 13 kills. Landerud got some help from Alex Faust and her 13 assists.

McFarland moved to 11-9 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Manitowoc Lincoln, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-9 record this season.
