Football Recap: Thomas Jefferson Starts Season with Win Against Niwot

Thomas Jefferson gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They pulled ahead with a 36-35 photo finish over the Niwot Cougars. The victory almost wasn't to be: the Spartans were down 28-14 in the second quarter.

Nick Radi threw for 112 yards and three TDs. Jack Hodge was his top target, picking up 68 receiving yards and one touchdown. On the ground, Zay Rogers rushed for 212 yards and a pair of scores.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Thomas Jefferson will head out to take on Mountain Range at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Niwot, they will venture away from home to square off against Centaurus at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
