Baseball Recap: Auburn Extends Home Winning Streak to Five

Auburn's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They never let the Albertville Aggies get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Tigers considering their one-run performance the game before.

Will Whatley made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits over six innings pitched. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single hit, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in February of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Auburn let Antwane Daniels and Angelo Santiago run wild. Daniels scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4, while Santiago scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Those three hits gave Daniels a new career-high. Another player making a difference was JB Upton, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Auburn's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-7. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.2 runs over those games. As for Albertville, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-12.

Looking ahead, Auburn will take on Dothan at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Albertville, they are taking a road trip to take on Smiths Station at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. Smiths Station will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Albertville surely won't give up without a fight.
