Basketball Recap: Clarke County Eagles vs. Luray Bulldogs

The Clarke County Eagles were the 81-60 winner over the Luray Bulldogs when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Clarke County fell to the Bulldogs 62-57. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.

Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Caidan Broy, who scored 15 points along with two steals and two blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Broy has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Will Booker, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds.

Luray's win on Friday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Connor Hilliard, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds. Hilliard is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. Another player making a difference was Matthew Owens, who scored 15 points along with six steals.

Clarke County's loss dropped their record down to 12-6. As for Luray, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-5.

Clarke County won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Falcons at 3:30 p.m. on February 3rd. As for Luray, they will head out on the road to face off against the at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
