Baseball Recap: Five Straight Home Wins for Salem Academy Charter

Salem Academy Charter barely beat Cathedral the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Navigator never let the Panthers get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory on Thursday. The Navigator haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Yuriel Gonzalez Vargas made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 17 over six innings pitched. He has become a key player for Salem Academy Charter: the team is undefeated when he allows at most two hits, but 3-4 otherwise. Gonzalez Vargas was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple was his first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jose Reyna, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI. Another player making a difference was Emilio Saez, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
