Last Friday, James River Midlothian was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 20-14 to Powhatan. The Rapids haven't had much luck with the Indians recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Meanwhile, Richmond High School for the Arts is still winless after their game against Monacan last Friday, but the team can take solace in the fact it was the closest they've come to winning. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 27-24 heartbreaker at the hands of the Chiefs. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last six times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

James River Midlothian will have to contain Demarcus Brown as he made an impact in Richmond High School for the Arts' last game. He rushed for 180 yards and one TD while picking up 11.3 yards per carry. Brown also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making five total tackles and defending one pass. Jamarcus Holland was another key player, rushing for 49 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Even if they lost, Richmond High School for the Arts' defense still kept up the pressure with eight sacks. Hezekiah Anderson led the group effort, picking up three of those sacks all by himself. He also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with 14.

James River Midlothian's loss dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Richmond High School for the Arts, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-6.
