Softball Recap: Brookville Wins Going Away Against Madison

Brookville owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Wednesday. They blew past the Madison Mohawks 7-0. The result was nothing new for the Blue Devils, who have now won seven matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Rylan Eagle made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Brookville let Nora Dunkle and Ella Nutter run wild. Dunkle went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI, while Nutter got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those four hits gave Dunkle a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Peyton Mart, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.

Brookville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

The victory snapped Brookville's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 10-7 record. As for Madison, they moved to 4-9-1 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Coming up, Brookville will head out on the road to face off against Eaton at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Blue Devils' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 7.1 runs per game this season. Madison will be paying especially close attention to Brookville's game: after Brookville faces off against Eaton, they'll take on Madison again at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
