Recap: San Benito Greyhounds vs. Harlingen Cardinals
The San Benito Greyhounds suffered their biggest defeat since November 28, 2023 on Friday. They were the victim of a rough 64-42 loss at the hands of Harlingen. While losing is never fun, San Benito can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1100th, while Harlingen is ranked 147th).
Harlingen was led to victory by Ashton Barajas and Luis Rodriguez. Barajas scored 13 points, while Rodriguez scored 14 points. Another player making a difference was Ruben Gonzalez, who scored nine points.
San Benito bumped their record down to 5-10 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Harlingen, the victory was the 20th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 25-3.
San Benito will be playing in front of their home fans against Weslaco at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Harlingen, they will head out on the road to square off against Rivera at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Rivera focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Friday.
