Basketball Recap: Elyria Catholic Victorious

On Thursday, the Elyria Catholic Panthers slipped by the Beaumont School Blue Streaks 38-37. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 75th, while the Blue Streaks are ranked 525th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Several Blue Streaks players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Joy Jones, who posted ten points along with five rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Maria Goske, who scored 13 points and seven boards.

Elyria Catholic's victory bumped their record up to 11-4. As for Beaumont School, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-12.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Elyria Catholic will host Holy Name at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Beaumont School has already played their next contest (against Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
