Recap: Quitman Panthers vs. Heidelberg Oilers
The Quitman Panthers were the 59-45 winner over the Heidelberg Oilers when they last played one another last Monday, but their luck changed this time around. Quitman fell just short of Heidelberg by a score of 36-34. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Quitman has scored all season.
AALIYAH NIXON and AUDRIANA HARRIS certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. NIXON scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and five steals, while HARRIS dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds. HARRIS scored a full 29.4% of Quitman's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jahyla Dubuse, who scored four points along with six rebounds and five steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Quitman and nudges their season record down to 8-2. As for Heidelberg, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a massive bump to their 5-4 record this season.
Quitman will take on Newton in a holiday battle at 3:00 p.m. on Monday at. Newton is coming into the contest hot, having won their last five games. Heidelberg won't have much time to rest: their next game is against South Jones at 3:00 p.m. on December 16th. South Jones is coming into the contest on a five-game losing streak.
