Basketball Game Preview: Maplesville Red Devils vs. Billingsley Bears

Maplesville is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Billingsley is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Maplesville Red Devils will host the Billingsley Bears at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Maplesville will be strutting in after a win while Billingsley will be coming in after a loss.

Last Tuesday, Maplesville made easy work of Ellwood Christian and carried off a 59-33 victory. The Red Devils have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Maplesville's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Chris Simon, who posted 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aidan Abbott, who scored 18 points and five boards.

Maplesville was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in December of 2023.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 66 points the game before, Billingsley was a bit more limited in their contest on Tuesday. They were outmatched by Marion and fell 60-23. While losing is never fun, the Bears can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 433rd, while the Rams are ranked 188th).

Billingsley's defeat dropped their record down to 5-13. As for Maplesville, their win bumped their record up to 8-2.

Maplesville was able to grind out a solid victory over Billingsley in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, winning 42-31. Does Maplesville have another victory up their sleeve, or will Billingsley turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
