Basketball Recap: Addey Hayden's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Mooresville Christian over Colonial Christian

Mooresville Christian lost against Colonial Christian back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Mooresville Christian Eagles took a 29-22 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Colonial Christian Cougars.

Mooresville Christian lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Addey Hayden, who posted two points along with eight boards and three steals. Another player making a difference was Bailey Hayden, who earned four points and eight rebounds.

Even though they lost, Mooresville Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in eight consecutive games.

It was another big night for Stinna Grubb, who went 7 for 16 on her way to 16 points in addition to six steals and five assists for Colonial Christian. Grubb has been hot recently, having posted five or more steals the last three times she's played. Cosette Castillo was another key player, putting up two points and four steals.

Mooresville Christian's loss dropped their record down to 10-6. As for Colonial Christian, their record is now 6-4.

Mooresville Christian will head out to face off against Cascade at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Mooresville Christian's defense has only allowed 28.9 points per game this season, so Cascade's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Colonial Christian, they will welcome Indiana Christian Academy at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
