It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Bowie ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They skirted past the Socorro Bulldogs 49-47. This was payback for the Bears, who suffered a 54-47 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Bowie's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Derek Hernandez, who shot 75% from the field on his way to 17 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Hernandez is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Derek Montanez was another key player, going 5-for-11 en route to 15 points and eight steals.

Socorro's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nathan Maldonado, who shot 40% from the field to rack up 18 points. Another player making a difference was Axel Hinojosa, who posted six points and five steals.

Bowie now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Socorro, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4.

Coming up, Bowie will venture away from home to take on Americas at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Socorro, they will welcome Eldorado at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
