Softball Game Preview: Estill County Engineers vs. Perry County Central Commodores

The Estill County Engineers will face off against the Perry County Central Commodores at 2:00 p.m. on Monday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Estill County comes in on four and Perry County Central on three.

While Estill County's victory against Knott County Central wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Engineers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 win over the Patriots on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Engineers have posted since April 30th.

The team relied heavily on Peyton Henderson, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Callee Snowden, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Perry County Central and Breathitt County, and Perry County Central kept the tradition alive. The Commodores were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Bobcats on Saturday. Considering the Commodores have won 14 matches by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Taylan Hoskins was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Averie Ratliff, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Perry County Central pushed their record up to 20-10 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Estill County, their win bumped their record up to 21-9.
