Softball Recap: Pace Picks Up 12th Straight Win on the Road

It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Pace ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 victory over the Jay Royals. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Patriots have posted since March 27th.

Jay's batters probably weren't too happy with Hannah DeMarcus, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 24 Ks (she gave up five walks). DeMarcus has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than ten strikeouts in 18 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Pace saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emma Hicks, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Pace's victory was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 17-3. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Jay, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 19-2.

Pace has already played their next game, a 2-0 victory against Milton on the 23rd. Jay does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
