Volleyball Recap: Jaicey Edwards Leads a Balanced Effort to Beat Meridian

Century won the last time they faced Meridian and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Centurions had just enough and edged out the Bobcats 2-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Centurions.

Century had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 19-25, 25-20, 25-18.

Century's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jaicey Edwards, who had 28 digs and two assists. Those 28 digs gave Edwards a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Brycelynn Ledbetter, who had 12 digs, five kills, and three aces.

Century's win bumped their record up to 10-14. As for Meridian, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-10.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Century will square off against Elverado at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Meridian, after both having extra time off, they and Joppa-Maple Grove will shake off the rust and duke it out at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
