Softball Game Preview: Red Hill Salukis vs. Oblong Panthers

The Red Hill Salukis will square off against the Oblong Panthers at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.

Red Hill made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Hutsonville/Palestine, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Salukis fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 2-0 on Thursday. The Salukis have struggled against the Tigers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.

Meanwhile, Oblong beat Tri-County [Kansas/Shiloh/Oakland] 9-5 on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Titans: they've now won nine in a row.

The team relied heavily on Genna Kidwell, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those doubles marked the first that she has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Maggie Bailey, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Oblong kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in May of 2024.

Red Hill's loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Oblong, their victory bumped their record up to 4-5.
