It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Mohawk can now relate to. They fell just short of the Monroeville Eagles by a score of 3-2 on Wednesday. The Warriors' loss signaled the end of their ten-game winning streak.
Mohawk actually scored more points across those five sets (98-93), but sadly they still had to settle for second. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 25-20, 14-25, 14-25, 15-12.
Biz Klopp paced Mohawk's offense, picking up 18 kills. Klopp got some help from Reese Hoover and her 39 assists. Klopp also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Emma Weaver, each putting up two.
Addison Homan was a one-woman wrecking crew For Monroeville. as she had 35 digs and five assists. Homan has been hot for a while, having posted 14 or more digs the last 27 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaci Poths, who had five digs and two aces.
Mohawk's defeat dropped their record down to 20-5. As for Monroeville, they pushed their record up to 22-2 with the victory, which was their 11th straight at home.
Mohawk does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Monroeville, after both having extra time off, they and Jackson-Milton will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 6:00 p.m. on the 30th.
