Niles West hasn't had much luck against Glenbrook South recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Wolves will challenge the Titans at 4:45 p.m.
On Saturday, Niles West came up short against Loyola Academy and fell 8-4.
Niles West got a good showing from Bodhi McDonald, who tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
At the plate, Eli Ordower made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season. Kevin Foley was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, it may have taken ten innings to finish the job, but Glenbrook South ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-7 victory over Cary-Grove. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Titans have posted since May 8, 2024.
Charlie Kurcz looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Anthony Nottage, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. What's more, he posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Trey Ryno, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.
The victory got Glenbrook South back to even at 4-4. As for Niles West, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-7-1.
Niles West was able to grind out a solid win over Glenbrook South when the teams last played back in May of 2024, winning 6-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wolves since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
