Basketball Recap: Casey-Westfield Comes Up Short

Casey-Westfield was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They fell 50-40 to the Lawrenceville Indians. The Warriors were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Indians apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Casey-Westfield lost, don't look at Lucy Moore. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 20 points and 18 rebounds. Those 18 boards gave Moore a new career-high. Julia Eckerty was another key player, putting up six points in addition to eight assists and five rebounds.

Addeline Sanders had a dynamite game for Lawrenceville, posting 28 points along with six boards and three steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Sanders has scored at least a third of Lawrenceville's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Gracie Hughes, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.

Casey-Westfield's defeat dropped their record down to 9-17. As for Lawrenceville, with the victory, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 9-13.

Casey-Westfield has already played their next game, a 54-26 loss against Mt. Carmel on the 27th. As for Lawrenceville, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 57-34 win against Wayne City/Cisne on the 25th.
