Basketball Recap: Skagway Comes Up Short

If Skagway was riding high fresh off their 55-17 takedown of Hydaburg last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Skagway Panthers took a 46-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Klawock Chieftains on Tuesday. The Panthers haven't had much luck with the Chieftains recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.

Klawock's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lea Armour, who posted 22 points and seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaiya Marvin, who scored five points in addition to 13 boards and three blocks.

Skagway's loss dropped their record down to 10-3. As for Klawock, they moved to 5-11 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Klawock beat Skagway by a score of 39-22 on Wednesday.
