Softball Recap: Clinton Central Wins Going Away Against Eastern

Clinton Central hadn't done well against Eastern recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Bulldogs were the clear victors by a 20-6 margin over the Comets. The high-scoring effort was just what the Bulldogs needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

Nuriah Harvey made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with four runs and one RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Makalyn Bray was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs and two RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lynssie Wallsmith, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs.

Clinton Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .838. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

With the win, Clinton Central broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 9-13. As for Eastern, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-23.

Looking ahead, Clinton Central will face off against Bethesda Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Eastern does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
