Basketball Game Preview: Gregory Gorillas vs. North Central Knights

The Gregory Gorillas and the North Central Knights will compete for holiday cheer at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. North Central took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Gregory, who comes in off a win.

Gregory is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Colome: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Gregory blew Colome out of the water with a 64-2 final score. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 43-0.

Gregory got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Carter Baumgartner out in front who posted ten points. The dominant performance also gave Baumgartner a new career-high in steals (two). Colt Keiser was another key player, going 5 for 6 on his way to 11 points.

Meanwhile, North Central played a tough contest on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by St. Mary's 71-38. The Knights have struggled against the Cardinals recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

Gregory pushed their record up to 2-1 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 30.8 points. As for North Central, they now have a losing record at 2-3.

Everything went Gregory's way against North Central in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, as Gregory made off with a 62-39 victory. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was North Central's Jackson Hallock, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. Now that he won't be playing on Saturday, will it be easier for Gregory to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
