Basketball Recap: Covenant Christian's Losing Streak Snapped at Five Games

Covenant Christian came into Friday's game having lost five straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Brighter Horizons Academy Stars 63-61. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Cougars have posted since December 2, 2023.

Leading Covenant Christian to victory were AJ Guerra and Lucas Wallace. Guerra dropped a double-double on 23 points and 11 rebounds, while Wallace went 5 of 11 on his way to 19 points and five assists. The contest was Guerra's third in a row with at least ten points.

Covenant Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in five consecutive matches.

Covenant Christian's victory bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Brighter Horizons Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-7.
