Dixie has gone a perfect 10-0 against Hurricane recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Flyers will head out on the road to square off against the Tigers at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Dixie took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They walked away with an 8-5 win over Pine View. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Flyers as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Jordan Andreas spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on nine hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Dixie let Weston Gilmore and Hudson Wright run wild. Gilmore went 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Wright went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run. That's the most RBI Wright has posted since back in March. Benson Platt also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Hurricane came out on top against Moapa Valley on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run sixth inning. The Tigers put the hurt on the Pirates with a sharp 12-2 win. Considering the Tigers have won eight games by more than seven runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Hurricane also let their pitcher toss all six innings played and he was also dialed-in: Jon Raddatz gave up only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits and racked up nine Ks. The Tigers are 2-1 when Raddatz allows one or fewer earned runs, but 8-12 otherwise.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Joey Monte, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with four RBI, two doubles, and one run. He has become a key player for Hurricane: the team is undefeated when he posts at least three RBI, but 7-13 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Gianni Giammalva, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Hurricane always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They are 8-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Dixie's record now sits at 13-10. As for Hurricane, their record is now 10-13.
Everything went Dixie's way against Hurricane when the teams last played back in April of 2025, as Dixie made off with a 14-2 victory. Do the Flyers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tigers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
